Glaucoma occurs when there is a progressive damage to the optic nerve which serves vision, resulting in vision loss. If left untreated, it can progress to blindness. It is one of the leading causes of blindness and is commonly due to high eye pressure; it can also occur with normal eye pressure. Regular eye examinations can save your eye through early detection & treatment.
You are at risk of developing glaucoma if you:
- Have family members with glaucoma.
- Are highly near-sighted.
- Have had an eye injury.
- Have diabetes, high blood pressure, poor blood circulation or other health problems affecting the whole body.
